Worry?

Shakespeare was a genius!

This above all: to thine own self be true,
And it must follow, as the night the day,
Thou canst not then be false to any man.
Farewell; my blessing season this in thee!

~William Shakespear

If you are true to yourself, and your desire, there is never need to worry!

So... What are you worried about?

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its problems....

It robs today of its strength.

Worry does not empty tomorrow of its problems...it robs today of its strength.

So... What are you worried about?

Here is a sample list of the worries that I hear from my clients:

~ If my car, house, yard, etc. is a mess people will think I am a slob
~ If I don't do al the household chores myself, nothing will be done properly
~ If I let someone else do the yard work, it won't be done the way I like it.
~ If I don't volunteer, no one else will, and it will never get done.
~ The bills!  The bills!  I can't pay the bills!
~ I worry that the kids will, come down with a horrible disease.
~ I worry that my spouse or the kids will have something horrible happen to
   them.
~ I worry that the kids will be kidnapped or assaulted.
~ You worry that a disaster will befall your family, community, or country.

This is a short list.  I bet that many of you could come up with a list of 50 to 100 more things.

Dealing with sorry can be handled on a worry to worry basis, and perhaps in the future we will handle some of the above subjects.  For now, lets take the list as a whole.  Use the simple suggestions below and apply them to whatever it is you are worried about.

* If What you are worried about will not directly effect your quality of life by denying you food, clothing, shelter or a healthy life style.  Forget about it!

* If what you are worried about may cause damage to your reputation, or to others opinions of you, consider if their opinion is really that important.  Perhaps they are not the type of people you need to be associated with.  Maybe they are narrow minded or prejudiced.

* If what you are worried about is safety or health related, take the proper precautions.  Learn as much prevention as you can, the stop worrying about it!

* If what you are worried about is failure in general consider the following.  If you do not succeed how much will you loose?  Will the experience be worth the education you gained?  How far can you go if you do succeed?  The answers may surprise you and move you forward.

Why Worry?

Why Worry?

There are only two things to worry about:
Either you are sick or you are well.

If you are well there is nothing to worry about.
If you are sick there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will get better or you will die.
If you get better there is nothing to worry about.
If you die, there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will go to heaven or you will go to hell.

If you go to heaven there is nothing to worry about.
If you go to hell you will be so damn busy talking with
all of your friends you will be to damn busy to worry!

I grew up in a house with a Mom who worried about worrying and a Dad who worried about nothing.  I bought them the above saving on a poster when I was 13.

All kidding aside, make a list of the things that worry you.  Tomorrow we will discuss how to deal with that list.

Failure to launch

Failure to launch.

Forgive me for not posting a blog the last two days.  I have decided that Sundays really need to be a day of rest, so I will not be posting a blog on Sundays.  As for my lack of a blog yesterday, which quite clearly was not a Sunday, I have an explanation.

There are times in life when you need to put all other things aside and deal with a situation as it arises.  Yesterday was just that.  A situation arose that required complete commitment and my undivided attention.  What, you ask, could this possibly be?

Worry.  That's it!  Worry!  I needed to drop everything to help a family member through a bout of worry.  What where they worried about?  To be honest, the source of their worry isn't really important, it is the fact that they were in the state of worry, that required my attention.

Worry is an insidious beast that can paralyze those who fall victim to it.  It can also cause a plethora of health related problems to boot!  I will devote this week to helping you deal with worry.  You can learn to conquer it!  This weeks blogs will help you learn how to master worry.

Decisions, Decisions Whats YOUR Decision?

He Who Hesitates is Lost!

The woodpecker's gotta go!

What are you waiting for?  Get off your ass (arss for the Irish out there) and do something already!

OK, yeah I can hear you already, what happened to patience.  Patinece is fine and very necessary and I am not tossing that asside.  I do not however want you to confuse patience, with lack of action and decisseveness.

Let me tell you a  story.  I don't usually include anectodes about myself, however if I have one positive trait is my decisive nature.

One evening my family was in town, my mother and father and her sister and brother and their spouses.  They were all many years my senior and we all went to a local chinese resturant for dinner.  Menu's were handed out and the waitress stopped by the table 3x in a 30min period to take our order.  Each time she stopped by the banter stopped for all of 10 seconds before resuming and the poor girl left the table without any more information then she came with.  When she came around for the fourth time I gave her the order while the rest of the table was still arguing about what they were going to order.  Froutry five min. after our arrival the "adults" had decided what they were going to order.  They then became impatinet wondering when the waitress was ever going to come and take their order.  It was at this time I let them know that I had ordered dinner for the table.  A hush fell over the table and they all looked at me in disbelief.  I could read their minds.  I'm sure you can imagine what they were thinking as well.

Long story short, the food came, it was great, everyone was happy. FORTUNATELY!

The moral:  Are you sitting around letting someone else make a decission for you?  If you know what you want, why not go for it?  Patience is important if you have a plan that is goal oriented. We will go into this more next week!
